When we began in 1939, members consumed an average of 155 kilowatt hours per month. Now the average is over 1,200 kilowatt hours per month. Today, 65 years after it was formed, Gascosage Electric Cooperative serves over 6,000 consumers and is playing an important role in developing the rural county's burgeoning industrial economy.
Over the years, GEC's Board and Management have strived to provide quality electric services at the lowest possible cost.
Because we're a locally owned business, our operation isn't influenced by stockholders or out-of-state interests. In fact, the people who influence our business decisions are the people we serve...our member-owners.
The foundation of our cooperative in everything that we do, is to offer more responsive and reliable programs and services to our members. But we carry this beyond the boundaries of our own business, for we believe that to truly serve our customers, we must also serve our community.
Gascosage Electric utilizes Crocker City Hall, Iberia City Hall, and Citizens Bank of Newburg as satellite offices. Our consumers can pay bills, initiate service orders, and obtain most of the services the Cooperative offers with local convenience. The Cooperative provides computer equipment to Crocker and Iberia that allows on-line access to consumer files. Listed below are the offices and their addresses.
