Gascosage Electric Cooperative joins forces each year to support local educators with a continuing education scholarship program entitled “Energy in Today’s Classroom.” The 2026 course is scheduled to take place this summer in July in Jefferson City at the Courtyard Marriott. Teachers that complete the program earn 15 hours of professional development.
Instructors who are actively teaching middle or high school science, agricultural science or industrial technology in GEC’s service territory are eligible to apply for the scholarship. One applicant will be chosen. The scholarship will cover all expenses including tuition, meals, mileage, instructional material and lodging. The emphasis on the course’s content will be energy.
Course content will include:
- Energy basics
- Power generation and transmission
- Energy efficiency and circuitry project
- Energy sources
- Economics and energy production
- Electrical vehicle demonstration
- Description of instructional materials
- Tour of power generation station
