Gratitude and Grit
As we wrap up another year, I’ve been thinking about what makes this cooperative and the people we serve so special. The holidays can get hectic, but it’s a good time to pause and look back at what we’ve accomplished together.
The story of rural electrification is one of hard work and determination. Back in the 1930s, folks in rural areas decided they weren’t going to live without electricity. When others said it couldn’t be done, they proved them wrong. They came together, built their own cooperatives, and put in the work to bring power to their homes and farms. They didn’t wait for someone else to do it, they got it done. That spirit still runs through this cooperative today.
It’s easy to flip a switch and not think much about it, but behind that switch are a lot of people who care about doing things right; our outside staff, our office staff, and our board members. Whether it’s working through the night during a storm, answering questions from a member, or lending a hand at a local event, our team goes above and beyond because they care about this community.
Being part of a cooperative means we’re different. We’re not owned by investors somewhere else; we’re owned by the people we serve. The principles that guide us; working together, putting people first, and looking out for our communities aren’t just words on paper. They’re how we do business every day.
I see that spirit all around us. I see it in the crews out early to restore power. In employees who volunteer their time after hours. And in you, our members, who support each other and take pride in being part of something built right here at home.
Every choice we make, whether it’s improving our system or planning for the future, comes down to one thing: Does this make life better for our members?
I’m proud of what we’ve done this year and thankful to the people who make it possible. On behalf of everyone at your electric cooperative, thank you for your trust, support, and patience through it all. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of good memories.
2025 Year in Review
Powering Progress, Connecting Communities
January 1 – October 1, 2025
As we reflect on the past year, Gascosage Electric Cooperative and GTech Fiber are proud to share the dedication and progress that have continued to move your cooperative forward. From answering member calls, clearing the debris from the path of falling trees, to expanding our fiber network, every department played a vital role in serving our members with excellence, reliability, and hometown care.
Member Services: The Voice of Our Cooperative
Our Member Service Representatives were busy this year, answering 19,197 calls totaling more than 47,323 minutes of conversation. Each call represented a member’s need, a question answered, or a problem solved with a personal touch.
A special honor goes to Hannah Gilbert, our top MSR of the year, who answered an impressive 3,632 calls. Her dedication to our members represents the spirit of service that defines Gascosage Electric Cooperative.
System Maintenance & Reliability
Our line crews worked tirelessly throughout 2025 to maintain and strengthen the electric system that powers our communities. Their efforts included:
- 263 poles replaced or upgraded
- 163 service upgrades completed
- 259 system improvements enhancing safety, reliability, and long-term performance
- 1077 Service Orders completed by our line maintenance
In addition to our maintenance and line crews, we house our very own Right-of-Way team who maintain the areas surrounding our electrical lines. This limits power disruptions and creates trust within our membership. These crews cleared a footage of 942,287 feet of ROW this year so far and completed 358 service orders.
Our crews averaged 1,072.7 miles driven per vehicle over a 30-day period ensuring that our members continue to receive dependable electricity, no matter the weather or time of year.
GTech Fiber: Expanding Connectivity
Our GTech Fiber team had another remarkable year of growth and service expansion. From installations to new construction, their work continues to bridge the digital divide across our service area. In 2025, we connected 521 new fiber customers, ran 1,161,106 feet of new fiber line, and used 58 reels of fiber cable to strengthen and extend our network. With these advancements, GTech is averaging under 2 hours for response and restoration of Fiber outages.
This ongoing investment in broadband infrastructure ensures that our communities remain connected to work, school, and each other. We have added 2 new fiber shelter locations totaling 12, with an additional 6 pending to complete our Fiber-to-the-Home project for our service territory.
Fleet & Equipment Support
Behind every successful operation is a team that keeps the wheels turning, literally. Our mechanics maintained our vehicles and heavy equipment with care and precision (going through 630 quarts of oil throughout our 44 vehicles fleet assets- HOW COOL!) to ensure that our crew could safely reach every member, no matter the terrain or task.
Office Support Staff
Every successful operation has a team working diligently behind the scenes. Our Accounting and Administrative staff ensure that every dollar is tracked responsibly, and every regulation is met with accuracy and integrity. The Communications team keeps members informed and engaged through updates, publications, and community outreach, while our building maintenance supports all our locations, inside and out.
Looking Ahead
From the front office to the field, every Gascosage and GTech employee contributed to another strong year of progress and service. Together, we’ve continued to deliver on our promise of reliable energy and modern connectivity for the members we proudly serve.
As we move into the remainder of 2025 and beyond, we thank you, our members, for your continued trust and support in helping us power and connect our communities.
