Remembering Jake Warren
It is with deep sadness that Gascosage Electric Cooperative announces the passing of longtime Board Director Jake Warren.
Jake dedicated more than 25 years of service to Gascosage Electric Cooperative after being appointed as a Maries County representative to the Board of Directors on June 20, 2000. Throughout his time on the board, he provided leadership, integrity, and a commitment to serving the cooperative's membership. Jake served as Vice President of the Board from 2002 to 2003 before being elected President in 2003 and serving until 2012. During his years of leadership, he helped guide the cooperative through significant growth and change.
A graduate of Dixon High School, Jake earned an engineering degree and spent 37 years with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. He retired as Senior Executive Director of Productivity, Quality Assurance and Facilities Management.
Jake's commitment to the cooperative and his community extended beyond Gascosage. He served as Gascosage Electric Cooperative's representative on the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives Board (AMEC) and on Sho-Me Electric's District V Committee for 13 years. He was also committed to continuing education and earned the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Credentialed Cooperative Director, Board Leadership, and Director Gold certifications.
For the past 21 years, Jake has served as President of the Dixon Senior Center Board of Directors, where he has played an instrumental role in planning and implementing its programs. Among those is the Meals on Wheels Program, which continues to provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors throughout the Dixon area. Jake also represented Maries County as a director on the Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging Board in Columbia for 15 years.Jake and his wife, Wanda, were residents of the Dixon area and made their home on their Missouri Century Farm near Dixon. His love for his community and his dedication to public service will leave a lasting mark on those here at the Cooperative who have spent the majority of their employment with Jake as a board member. Jake passed away on July 16th, surrounded by his family, who cared so deeply for him.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, management, and employees of Gascosage Electric Cooperative, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Wanda, their family, and all who knew and loved Jake. We are deeply grateful for his years of dedicated service and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
