There When You Need It

Around the clock day and night, seven days a week, all year long—electricity is there when you need it. It powers homes, farms, shops, and businesses across the surrounding communities we serve. From early mornings in the barn to late nights at the kitchen table, electricity supports everyday life. Most of the time, we don’t give it much thought and that’s exactly how it should be. Reliable electricity should simply work. Still, occasionally, it’s worth taking a closer look at how that power gets from a generating plant to your home or business here on our local lines.

Power With Local Roots

Gascosage Electric Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative. That means when you receive electric service from us, you’re more than a customer, you’re a member-owner. The decisions we make are guided by what’s best for our members, our communities, and the rural way of life we’re proud to support. All the electricity used by Gascosage Electric Cooperative members is provided by Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc., based in Springfi eld, Missouri. Associated supplies wholesale power to electric cooperatives across Missouri, northeast Oklahoma, and southeast Iowa. Associated is owned by six regional transmission cooperatives, which are owned by local distribution cooperatives. Sho-Me Power Electric Cooperative is owned in part by Gascosage Electric Cooperative. We purchase our Power directly from Sho-Me, who receive it from Associated. This cooperative structure keeps control local and ensures the power system works for the people it serves.

A Reliable Mix of Power Sources

To keep electricity dependable and aff ordable in all seasons, Associated Electric uses a balanced mix of generation resources. This diversity helps ensure that whether it’s a hot July aft ernoon or a freezing January morning, electricity is there when our members need it most.

From Generation to Your Front Door

Once electricity is generated, it travels over thousands of miles of high-voltage transmission lines to regional substations. From there, it moves onto Gascosage Electric Cooperative’s local distribution system the poles, lines, and transformers you see along county roads, past pastures, and through neighborhoods. At substations and along our lines, the voltage is reduced and carefully managed before being delivered directly to your meter. The entire process happens in an instant every time you flip a switch, start a well pump, or power up farm equipment.

Powered by People Who Live Here

Behind every light is a team of dedicated people, many of whom live right here in the communities we serve. Gascosage Electric Cooperative employees are your neighbors, friends, and family members. They’re the ones responding to outages in the middle of the night, maintaining lines during extreme weather, and working every day to keep your power reliable and safe. At Gascosage Electric Cooperative, we’re proud to serve our members and our communities. When you need electricity, it’s there because local people are working for you.
